Quick Start Guide

Development Environment (Yocto Build System)

On our ftp server there is a preconfigured vmware machine.

Link: ftp://kontron_pub:WENZtA6i@ftp.kontron.ch/WebPanel/SDK
Files:

  • 20250321_ubuntu-22.04_Yocto-SDK-VM.ova (used for VirtualBox)

  • 20250317_Ubuntu-22.04.05 64-bit VMWare.ova (used for VMware)

Default user with root rights:

  • User: user

  • Password: user


FTP Support deprecated by browsers

Major web browser like Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome have deprecated FTP support in July 2021. Use another FTP software instead.

First Steps building a image

  1. Download & open vmare image (use min. 12GB RAM for the VM)

  2. Open  a console

  3. Console Command: “cd yocto-ktn”

  4. Console Command: “. init-env –u build-kch-sample

  5. Console Command: “bitbake image-kontron-base”

Remarks

  • To include further yocto packages edit the file local.conf (Enviroment Variable: CORE_IMAGE_EXTRA_INSTALL)

  • The conf/local.conf file contains corresponding instructions such as changing the platform (MACHINE) and setting additional options.
